Zoodles with Lentil Bolognese SauceΒ

When you are craving noodles, there is a healthier alternative. Zucchini noodles, otherwise known as “Zoodles”, are a nice carb free opinion. So bust out your spiralizer and make some Zoodles!! Once made, just sautΓ© them in oil. I like to add garlic in the oil prior to adding the squash.

Today I made a lentil and turkey Bolognese sauce to top my Zoodles with! Compared to the traditional recipe, my version is a little healthier and leaner.

  1. 2 cups Lentils
  2. 1 pound Ground Turkey
  3. 1/2 medium Onion, diced
  4. 2 cloves Garlic
  5. 1 T EVOO
  6. 1 stalk Celery
  7. 2 Carrots
  8. 1 can of diced Tomatoes
  9. 1 4oz can of Tomato Paste
  10. 1 T Italian Seasoning
  11. Salt and pepper

First prepare lentils as directed and set aside. Brown turkey in skillet with oil, garlic, onions, carrots, and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Stir in tomato paste, canned tomatoes, and lentils. Heat throughout. Topped onto your Zoodles. sprinkle with cheese. Enjoy.

Boost Your Workout

Caffeine! β˜•οΈβ˜•οΈβ˜•οΈ Drinking caffeine in any form has been shown and proven to increase the efficiency of your workout. It also gives you that extra little “boost” to lessen fatigue during your exercise.

Green Tea is my favorite pre-workout source of caffeine. It tastes good and is quick and easy to make. Research has show that Green Tea contains an antioxidant in it called EGCG that has been linked to weight loss! In simple terms it helps your body burn more fat by increasing your metabolism. Yay, fat burning!! 🍡🍡 Get your drink on!

Don’t Quit!

Everyone has those where they just can’t. Can’t seem to find to motivation, energy, or will power to get their workout in. It’s tough some days!! When you have days like that, just remember why you started. Why is workout out important to you? What do you hope to gain from it? It does make a difference. Don’t forget why you started!

Lost and Found

In a house filled with children (3 boys), things tend to go missing a lot. More so since moving from our old 2 bedroom apt to now a 3 bedroom house. I search everywhere I could think of! And of course my pair of flip flop sandals are found shoved under the couch!! Everything ends up under the couch at some point and time, but always the last place you would think to look.

Prevention is often the best medicine! While working as a nurse I see the results first hand of multiple health problems. If you decide to be a smoker, likely you like be on a regime of inhalers and eventually need oxygen to support your breathing function. If you decide to eat unhealthy foods full of salt and saturated fats it’s likely that you like develop heart disease and be at a higher risk for stroke and heart attack. If you are overweight, inactive, and consume an excess of sweets, diabetes will find you.

Modern medicines are great but it’s best to try not to have to take them. I doctor I know states she wishes not to take any prescription medications. She takes a multivitamin and maybe an occasion “Tylenol for head cold”. One medication may cause side effects that may require yet another medication to fix. You really need to look at the pros and cons of any medication that you decide to take. In my line of work, I work mainly with the elderly population. I have seen people with a dozen prescription medications to treat and help manage long term diseases. They have pill counting as daily chore. Prevention is key. Lifestyle choices of being active and eating healthy foods should be an absolute priority in your life. Treats and sweets should be in moderation. If you smoke, please quit. Incorporate exercise into your daily routine. Stay active, eat healthy. Β Take steps to prevent health problems that will end you up in the hospital.
